Professional Path

I have been blessed in my life to have had diverse experiences in multiple industries and to have loved and grown from each one.

My Career:
The bulk of my earning years were spent as a member of the executive leadership team in several different industries –
– Healthcare: Director of Community Relations for a trauma facility and regional burn center serving four states
– K-12 Education: Director of Communications for one of the top school districts in WA state; years earlier, a high school counselor, primarily with disenfranchised teens
– Media: Vice President and Director of Public Affairs for a major CBS affiliate including two radio stations and a television station
– Finance: Vice President of Corporate Affairs, managing organizational change and mergers and acquisitions in an expanding regional bank

My Credentials:
– Certificate, Patient Navigator: Certificate earned through Sonoma State University
– Conflict Resolution Facilitator: Trainer for the National Conflict Resolution Center, San Diego with primary focus on healthcare
 -Certified Mediator: Worked with teens and their parent(s)
– Ph.D. Educational Psychology: Worked in four industries: Healthcare, Education, Media and Finance
– M.Ed. Rehabilitation Counseling: Mental health clinics and VA Hospital outpatient care
– BA Sociology and Anthropology: Secondary teacher in Kenya, East Africa

My Heart Connections:
Community Involvement: Over the years, I have served on numerous not-for-profit boards and done volunteer work for senior services, mental health clinics, hospitals and political campaigns. Early on in my career, I taught school in Kenya through the Peace Corps and co-led a one-month long Gestalt Therapy Group based in Japan. I have always been a strong advocate for the importance of giving back and working together to create a healthier community.
